Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Ministry to children is one of the most important aspects to our church. We believe that, as Jesus states above, we must become more like them in order to even enter the kingdom of heaven. We want a family to grow and worship together as much as possible. To that end, on the first week of every month, the children from K-6 spend the entire service with their parents.

CHILDCARE PROVIDED ENTIRE SERVICE

Our Vision: Deuteronomy 32:2 NLT  Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.

Our Purpose: Our purpose is to faithfully and enthusiastically share the gospel and our lives with OCF’s children, by providing a safe and engaging environment in which children may learn about Jesus, grow a meaningful relationship with Him, and share His love with others.

Our Program: Thrive Tots uses a fun and creative curriculum called First Look. This curriculum provides a variety of active illustrations of a monthly bible story and verse. We learn a new and exciting song each month, too. The classroom arrangements are as follows:
Nursery: 6 weeks – 2 Years
Green Room: 2 Years to 3 Years
Blue Room: 4 Years – 5 Years

Our Schedule: In the Green, & Blue Rooms we follow a schedule that consists of free play, toddler-friendly bible games & lessons, prayer & worship, snack time, and potty time & diaper changing. Teachers are available to receive children at 9:45 am and pick-up time is promptly after the end of the service.

Our Procedures:
1. All children are checked in at our Check In Booth and are given an identification sticker and matching parent ticket.  This is used to ensure that only parents pick up children. *We do not allow siblings to pick up little ones.
2. If you are needed, the number that you are given on your check-in ticket will be projected on the screen in the sanctuary. Please proceed to your child’s class promptly.
3. Safety is of utmost importance to us. All adult workers are background checked and undergo training.
4. Please label your diaper bags & sippy cups.
5. We give the kids a small snack such as animal crackers, goldfish, pretzels & water.
7. Please list allergies on the sign-in sheet along with any other special instructions & inform the teacher.
*We encourage all parents, if able, to join our volunteer team.

CHILDREN RELEASED AFTER WORSHIP

Our Vision: Colossians 2:6-7 NLT 6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Our Purpose: Our purpose is to faithfully and enthusiastically share the gospel and our lives with OCF’s children, by providing a safe and engaging environment in which children may learn about Jesus, grow a meaningful relationship with Him, and share His love with others.

Our Program: In Thrive Kids, we use a unique method of teaching the bible to our children. Each child has their own Thrive Kids Book, which is used along with a bible reading plan to guide our lessons. The children spend time reading passages directly from their bibles and then they utilize their Thrive Kids Book to reflect on what they have read in many creative ways. They will log who they have met and where they have been during their reading, while completing a timeline and mapping Jesus’ journeys. They will spend time reflecting on and journaling about Jesus’ presence in their daily lives and will keep a log of their personal prayer requests and the prayers they are asking on behalf of others. Teachers will also use a variety of creative illustrations to help the children expand their understanding with a focus on reaching all children’s diverse learning styles.

Each month we have a First Sunday service. This is a unique time for families to worship and learn together. Children will be provided with activities to do within their Thrive Kids Book as they listen to the message. Parents are encouraged to take part in this special time together.

Our Schedule: Thrive Kids begins after a family worship time, at the beginning of the Fellowship Break. Children gather as a group to read the bible and reflect as a group, sharing their thoughts and ideas with each other. Illustrations and activities follow, with opportunities to move, create, or play while learning. Children will have time to spend in quiet reflection during journal time and to pray for each other’s needs. Dismissal begins as soon as church is over.

Our Procedures: Before being seated in the sanctuary, parents/guardians are to register their children at the Check In Booth. Children will receive a nametag and parents/guardians will receive a matching “ticket.” Children will sit and worship with their families then they will be released as a group from the sanctuary to walk to the Thrive Kids area to share in their lesson. At dismissal, parents/guardians are to proceed directly to the Thrive Kids classroom to pick up their children. Parents will present their “tickets” to the Thrive Kids team, and children will be called for dismissal. Children will be allowed to leave only with the permission and accompaniment of their parents.

*We encourage all parents, if able, to join our volunteer team.

CHILDREN RELEASED AFTER WORSHIP

Our Vision: Psalm 1:1-3 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Our Purpose: Our purpose is to faithfully and enthusiastically share the gospel and our lives with OCF’s children, by providing a safe and engaging environment in which children may learn about Jesus, grow a meaningful relationship with Him, and share His love with others. Serving as a bridge from Thrive Kids to the Catalyst Youth Group, Four56 is a preteen discipleship program endeavoring to build Godly character and maturity through study and action.

Our Program: In Four56, children will participate in a group bible study taught uniquely through activities and conversations. The children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by contributing their ideas about what they would like to learn based on what their current life experiences are. We want them to know that the answers to all of life’s biggest questions can be found within the pages of the bible and through prayer. We encourage them to seek the guidance and encouragement of their spiritual family in Four56.

Our Schedule: Four56 begins at the beginning of the Fellowship Break time. They will participate in learning activities for 30-40 minutes, and then close with related discussions and a dedicated prayer time. Dismissal begins as soon as church is over.

Our Procedures: Before being seated in the sanctuary, parents/guardians are to register their children at the Check In Booth. Children will receive a nametag and parents/guardians will receive a matching “ticket.” Children will sit and worship with their families, then they will be released as a group from the sanctuary to walk to the Four56 classroom to share in their lesson. At dismissal, parents/guardians are to proceed directly to the Four56 classroom to pick up their children. When the children have completed their prayer time the door will be opened. Parents will present their “tickets” to the Four56 leaders, and children will be called for dismissal. Children will be allowed to leave only with the permission and accompaniment of their parents.

*We encourage all parents, if able, to join our volunteer team.
