He’s usually the first “word” you learn at church as a kid. The name of Jesus. If you can’t think of an answer in Bible study…just answer, “Jesus.” He’s always the answer.
The irony is, that may be the highest truth of all theology.
Jesus is the answer.
The Apostle Paul seems to think so. In his letter to the Colossian church, Paul seeks to correct false teaching with a very focused response.
Jesus. High and lifted up. Sovereign. Supreme. Preeminent.
Paul’s solution to growing heresy in the Colossian church was simple…Let me remind you WHO we are following! Jesus. He’s our EVERYTHING. So His character and His nature should preside over EVERY area of your life.
We are going to walk through this amazing letter together on Sunday mornings. I would love for you to join me in reading this book several times each week between Sunday’s.
As you read, ask yourself big questions about the world we live in (war, politics, poverty, disease, racism, etc) and pray about the answer to each question.
Then ask yourself questions about your own life (joy, contentment, depression, anxiety, anger, loneliness, weariness, etc). Let’s see if Jesus is willing and able to reign supreme in these battlefields as well.
