I wish Paul (The Apostle, not The Beatle) had a blog that I could follow. Paul really knew how to write powerful truth with an economy of words. Note: he DID have the Holy Spirit guiding his hand as he wrote!
Take for example the way he would open his letters:
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:3-6 NIV)
Now THAT’S encouragement! But…it’s probably for the better that Paul didn’t have access to a smartphone, a laptop, and a twitter account. I can imagine some of his tweets and hashtags might have been harsh and biting (check Galatians 5:11-12 for example). Thankfully, Paul did not have to navigate his way through the instant gratification/instant regret world we live in today. But, he was a master at getting his point across with an efficiency that might make 21st century bloggers jealous.
Paul used his letters to “keep in touch” with his churches to encourage, exhort, admonish, correct, interrogate, bless, teach, etc. and the church benefitted greatly from his letters.
In a similar way, we want to bring you letters (or as we call them in today’s social media culture, “blog posts”) that will help us to do an even better job of “keeping in touch.” So, it’s my joy to introduce our newest means of doing so – an OCF blog. Actually, our blog will serve more as a clearinghouse for interesting and insightful material that we believe will be helpful in bearing fruit in your life and expanding the Kingdom of God.
Our blog entries will come to you in many and diverse forms and from many and diverse sources, including:
– Thoughts from your pastors
– Sermon reflections
– Event Recaps/Stories
– Guest blogs or interviews
– Mission trip/Ministry recaps
– Video Blogs
– Youth/456 blogs
I’m excited for all The Lord is doing in our church. We look forward to keeping in touch and we would love to hear from you! If you have an idea for a blog post or a topic you would like us to address you can contact us at email@example.com
Grace and peace,
